MS Ocean Diamond

Nature lovers are mesmerized by Iceland’s spell. There are few places on our planet where you can admire black-sand beaches, erupting volcanoes, lumbering glaciers and thunderous waterfalls while at the same time swimming in hot prings, betting on when geysers will erupt, and hiking across barren rocky deserts. It’s no wonder the country’s nature has been the inspiration for countless Icelandic sagas and songs.

Today, Iceland boasts one of the world’s highest standards of living thanks mainly to its natural resources such as fish, geothermal energy, and hydropower.

Now, renowned Iceland specialists Iceland ProTravel is about to introduce a unique circumnavigation to introduce visitors to many facets of the island, a journey that showcases the country and its people, varied wildlife; culture and cuisine, stories and legends. Most cities and towns are located along the coast and can easily be reached by boat. Numerous shore excursions provide the opportunity to explore the interior of Iceland as well.

The 10-day cruises will be on board the newly refurbished MS Ocean Diamond, stopping at nine different ports and giving the 224 passengers the opportunity to travel around the island for the first time without having to change hotels. After a busy day of exploration, guests can browse a library of DVD sand reference books in the ship’s well-stocked Polar library, and enjoy stunning views of the spectacular Arctic scenery from its Panorama saloon.Dining will be of the highest quality, with local specialities, and the guests will have the services of a team of experienced expedition leaders.

The first Iceland Circumnavigation route starts in Reykjavik on 3 June and there will be six more throughout the summer before Ocean Diamond leaves for the first of three 11-night cruises to Greenland.
