Norwegian Cruise Line will deploy a ship year-round in Europe for the first time in its history when Norwegian Jade (re-named from the Pride of Hawaii) starts an inaugural season from Barcelona on March 30.

The original plan was for Jade to leave Europe in November, but the line’s chief executive officer Colin Veitch said NCL’s European fleet is “doing so well, we are now confident in committing a ship year-round to this strongly growing market.”

Spring and winter voyages will sail from Barcelona to the canaries and Morocco, while summer and autumn itineraries will feature the rest of the Med, sailing to Istanbul and back. Passengers already booked on Jade’s autumn Transatlantic and New York sailings are being transferred to similar voyages on Norwegian Gem.
