Avalon on Mekong

Avalon Waterways will add a new Mekong River cruiser to its fast-growing network of deluxe river voyages in 2012, with a brand new 32-passenger vessel that will sail between Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Founded in 2004, Avalon has focused primarily on Europe, where it operates nine ships, but also offers cruises on the Nile, Yangtze and around the Galapagos Islands

The new ship is to be called Avalon Angkor, after the ruins of Angkor Wat, which are located near Siem Reap, a highlight of trips to the region. The company plans to combine a seven-night sailing on the Mekong with pre and post-cruise hotel stays in Ho Chi Minh City and Siem Reap, with packages lasting up to two weeks.
