Marina will be delivered in January 2011 and is already on sale for the winter and summer season for 2011. Both ships are 65,000 tons, will carry 1,200 passengers and represent a significant leap both in numbers and quality to their three existing ships. The overall look will also be very ‘elegant’ and ‘more contemporary’ than Oceania’s existing ships.
OCEANIA CRUISES founder Frank Del Rio explained: “There’s only one thing better than one new ship, and that’s two new ships,” adding “Good things come in threes, but we will see.”
Marina will resemble the existing trio – Regatta, Nautica and Insignia – in style and general arrangement with their revered dining classics, the Grand Dining Room, Polo Grill, Toscana and Terrace Cafe. New features include three new speciality restaurants including Jacques (French cuisine) and Red Ginger (Asian classics), an exclusive dining experience for just 10 people at a time, Privee, and wine-tasting room La Reserve.
All in all, there will be no less than 10 dining venues, six of which will be open seating restaurants. Marina will also host the Bon Appetit Culinary Centre – the only hands-on cooking school at sea.
While keeping the signature bars (Martini’s, Grand Bar, The Patio and Horizons) which Oceania is famous for, they have added a new coffee bar, Baristas, and will offer some appreciably larger staterooms, with Verandas at 282sq ft and Penthouse Suites at 429sq ft.
There will also be 12 Oceania Suites of 1,000sq ft, 8 Vista Suites of 1,200-1,500sq ft and 3 stunner Owner’s Suites of an amazing 2,000sq ft each. These will represent arguably the best and most spacious suites at sea, with interior design by Ralph Lauren and Dakota Jackson.
The ships’ architects are famed Norwegian company Yran and Storbraaten, who recently designed the acclaimed Seabourn Odyssey.
