Saga Sapphire will make a total of 18 maiden port calls on its no-fly grand voyage from Southampton to Latin America in January 2017.

The maiden calls on this 66-night cruise are:

  • Cartagena, Colombia
  • Oranjestad, Aruba
  • Colon, Panama
  • Caldera, Costa Rica
  • Acajutla, El Salvador
  • Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
  • Mazatlán, Mexico
  • Acapulco, Mexico
  • Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala
  • Corinto, Nicaragua
  • Flamenco Marina, Panama
  • Puerto Limon, Costa Rica
  • Trujillo, Honduras
  • Belize
  • Havana, Cuba
  • Santiago de Cuba, Cuba
  • Montego Bay, Jamaica
  • Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Belize and Trujillo will be maiden calls for both the cruise ship and for Saga Cruises. Trujillo is a privately-owned port in north-east Honduras on the country’s Banana Coast and has a beautiful white sandy beach. Belize, a member of the Commonwealth, boasts some fine colonial architecture. There will also be an option to visit Crooked Tree village, which was founded in the mid-1700s by wood cutters. The village has only been accessible since 1984, when a three-mile causeway was created. Walking trails give guests the chance to see birds and wildlife including Jabiru storks, osprey, black-collared hawks, howler monkeys, turtles and coatimundi.

Further ports of call on Saga Sapphire’s cruise include Castries, St Lucia; Port of Spain, Trinidad; Bridgetown, Barbados; Horta, Azores and Funchal, Madeira.

Some of the highlights of this voyage include sailing through the Panama Canal on the outward and return journeys; an overnight call in Havana and boarding a restored Atlantic Railway passenger train to view wildlife in Costa Rica.

The 66-night itinerary aboard Saga Sapphire commences on 11 January 2017 from Southampton and will return back to the port on 18 March. Prices start from £11,224 per person based on two sharing an Inside cabin. This price includes a UK travel package to and from Southampton, all meals and entertainment, a choice of table wines at lunch and dinner, afternoon tea, 24-hour room service, a welcome cocktail party, unlimited tea and coffee in selected venues, free Wi-Fi, all on-board gratuities, porterage, complimentary shuttle buses to nearest town centre (whenever possible and when the ship is berthed more than 500 yards away), tourist visas, optional travel insurance and additional cancellation rights.
