Sir Tim Rice presents the narration of a musical journey through some of his best-known work for a new production that will debut on Seabourn Encore in January and follow on every ship in the fleet.

An Evening With Time Rice brings together his work as a lyricist with composers Andrew Lloyd Webber on Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita; Elton John’s The Lion King; Alan Menken, on Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast; and ABBA’s Bjorn and Benny on Chess.

The new show has been created exclusively for Seabourn by Belinda King Creative Productions. It will premiere on Encore when the ship sails from Singapore on her inaugural voyage. The curtain goes up on the show across the rest of the fleet – on Seabourn’s `Odyssey, Quest and Sojourn – during the year, and reaches Seabourn Ovation when that ship joins the fleet in spring 2018.

The concert presentation is narrated throughout by Tim himself taking the audience on a musical journey through some of his best-known work. The production features the ships’ four resident singers and includes anecdotes and visuals from his personal archive.

“This is a first for me, it’s been an amazing experience, looking back over my career and the friendships that shaped it,” said Tim Rice. “The result is a show that you won’t find anywhere else. I’ve been lucky that my work has been shown around the world, so I love the idea of this production circumnavigating the globe on the high seas on board Seabourn’s beautiful ships.”

As well as recording his presentation and lending memorabilia from his personal collection, Rice will make personal appearances on every Seabourn ship.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Tim Rice since he is one of the most versatile and prolific lyricists writing today,” said Richard Meadows, president of Seabourn.

“From Evita’s ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’ to the Lion King’s ‘Hakuna Matata’ – I know our guests are going to be absolutely enchanted. This is such an exciting addition to the whole Seabourn experience, where our two worlds, on board and on shore, are bought together to create a luxury trip like no other.”
