Liverpool, once one of the world’s great trading ports, is our departure point for this 23-night grand voyage via the Arctic to Canada and New York City. Along the way, we call at the Isle of Man, where a steam-train ride offers yesteryear charm, and Londonderry in Northern Ireland for the Ulster American Folk Park. Working our way north, we call by the Scottish Hebridean island of Orkney, with its mysterious neolithic standing stones at Brodgar, the Faroe Islands, and Iceland. The land of ice and fire enlivens the spirit with swims in the geothermal waters of Reykjavik’s Blue Lagoon or helicopter views of its volcanic landscape before we head west to Qaqortoq in Greenland. From here, we sail to Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, where early fall’s russet leaves provide the backdrop for lobster lunches and Mi'kmaq culture at Sydney and Halifax, traveling on to Boston and concluding our journey in New York.
