Cruising Excursions has introduced a new collection of ‘foodie’ themed shore excursions including cookery classes, dining with local families and dining in style.

According to the online shore excursions and activities company an increasing number of customers are now seeking shore excursions that offer more than just a sightseeing tour. To compliment a range of 12,000 excursions across 700 ports worldwide the company has introduced a range of food-themed excursions which include English speaking guides and air conditioned transport.

In Barcelona guests can combine a city tour, taking in sights including Las Pedera, Sagrada Familia and Casa Lleo Morera, with a three-hour Mediterranean cookery class at one of the renowned schools in the city. The ‘Spanish Cookery Class and Luxury Private Gaudi’ excursion starts from £332.50 per person.

In Athens a local food guide will lead guests in search of small, hidden speciality food shops including delicatessens, bakeries, sweet shops, restaurants, dairies, spice, grocery and pie shops, sampling delicious Greek food at each. The tour will also include a visit to the vibrant central Varvakeios food market. The ‘Off The Beaten Track Food Tour’ starts from £79 per person.

A dinner cruise on a traditional Arabian Dhow in Abu Dhabi will delight guests who search for authentic Arabian seafood dishes. It is also a great way to view the modern architecture set against the ancient buildings from a different perspective. The ‘Abu Dhabi Dhow Seafood Dinner Cruise’ excursion starts from £64 per person.

In Malta guests can enjoy an informal meal with locals in a six-hour experience where they can learn about the history of the island, the culture, and the people. The host prepares a three course typically Maltese lunch, talking through the preparation and sourcing of the local produce. Up to eight guests will join the host for lunch which is served with local wine. The ‘Taste of Malta Informal Home Dining Experience’ excursion starts from £150 per person.

Other culinary-themed shore excursions are available including activities in Chile, New Zealand, Singapore, France, Estonia, Morocco, and Malaysia.

All ‘from’ prices are calculated based on average sized groups or minimum numbers. Full details of the new food-themed shore excursions can be found here.
