So it’s goodbye to 2019. Where did all that time go? However you spent this year, I hope you managed to fit in a cruise or two to some of the world’s most exciting destinations. As for me, I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year as editor of World of Cruising – and I’m looking forward to bringing you even more amazing travel ideas in 2020.
This issue is our special 2020 Cruise Planner – your complete guide to setting sail in the year to come. Inside you’ll find full details of every line – from ocean to river, to expedition and ultra-luxury. Our exclusive directory gives you detailed descriptions of each ship, showing its size, the number of passengers and crew, how many restaurants it has, the onboard facilities and the percentage of suites. It’s well worth putting your feet up with a cuppa and reading all about the lines you fancy cruising with. Then, once you’ve found the ships you like the look of, turn to our user-friendly reference tables to see where they sail and what they include in the fare.
We’ve also been busy rounding up the latest news on the ships sailing your way next year. I’m particularly excited about the launches from two companies that are new to cruise. Virgin Voyages’ first ship, Scarlet Lady, will make her debut in April, while Ritz-Carlton’s ultra-luxurious Evrima sets sail in July. Turn to page 12 for Isabella Sullivan’s essential guide to these and all the other great new ships on the horizon for 2020.
As we see out 2019, I’d like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. And let’s all raise a toast to making the most of our exciting cruise adventures in 2020.
