WHY WE’RE WILD ABOUT CRUISING
One of the best things about cruising is the sheer choice on offer – so whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned sailor, there will always be an experience that suits you to a T.
At World of Cruising we pride ourselves on bringing you the most up-to-date information on the very best in cruising, from the smallest river ships to the greatest liners, and this month I was lucky enough to experience both. First up was A-Rosa’s delightful newcomer on the Douro. Christened in the picturesque Portuguese city of Porto, A-Rosa Alva may be small but she punches way above her weight (see page 14 for my report, and page 30 for your chance to win a cruise). I also got to visit the mighty Celebrity Edge as she made her European debut in Southampton. Here is a big ship that somehow feels intimate, thanks to Kelly Hoppen’s brilliant design work, and on page 18 you can read what happened when I met the Captain.
Our cover this month features the timeless elegance of the geisha girl – and Japan, along with its southeast Asian neighbours, is high on the bucket list for many cruisers. If you’re among them, you’ll love our in-depth guide to the best new cruises in this endlessly fascinating part of the world (see page 46). And if you’re wild about animals, turn to page 30 for Nicole Carmichael’s defnitive guide to seeing your favourite fauna in its natural habitat.
Whether you’re taking a cruise this month or booking your next trip, we’re here to help you – in the pages of this magazine and also online at worldofcruising.co.uk.
Hope you enjoy the issue.
