Marella Explorer 2, Mediterranean

Comfortable outside cabin. Dinner menus fairly limited choice. Entertainment quite good. Attractive itinerary. Our first experience of the recent additions to the fleet, which was positive ….HOWEVER …
When all was going well, everything was fine …. until the 2nd last day. All guests had to have pre travel Covid tests as this was still required for leaving Spain and re-entering the UK. We, along with 40 other passengers tested positive and thereafter were quarantined firstly on the ship and then on arrival in Malaga for another 6 nights in far-from-satisfactory accommodation which was arranged for us. The saga is very much longer but suffice to say that we are very unimpressed by how TUI has responded to all this. Other guests were disembarked in several previous ports and it is clear we all caught COVID on board. This was our 11th Thomson/Tui cruise and is likely to be our last as the post holiday experience, both in the so-called isolation accommodation and from the patronising responses received from the Customer Support Team following our formal complaints were far short of what we expected, so anyone going on Marella Cruises meantime should BE AWARE that things can go wrong.
