Zegrahm Expeditions to return to the Polar Extremes

Zegrahm Expeditions will be returning to the world’s extremes this year, on expeditions that journey to both the Arctic and Antarctic regions.

The Northwest Passage itinerary will depart on 4 September 2015 and will be a 20-day voyage to explore western Greenland and the Canadian Arctic. Guests cruising this northern sea route may spot sea birds, waterfowl, whales, seals, and perhaps even polar bears. Guests will have the opportunity to walk on Greenland’s legendary ice sheet as well as getting closer to the fjords, icebergs, and glaciers in a kayak. Prices start from $15,980 (approximately £10,490) per person.

On 22 October a 19-day Circumnavigation of South Georgia with the Falkland Islands voyage will commence. Seven full days will be spent exploring the historic and wildlife-rich island of South Georgia. Guests will witness huge colonies of king penguins, with over 200,000 at Salisbury Plain alone, as well as four species of albatross, and fur and elephant seals. Guests will learn about early polar exploration and whaling history, visit the burial site of famed explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, and spend time on the Falkland Islands, observing black-browed albatross, Magellanic and rockhopper penguins, as well as a host of endemic birds found nowhere else in the world. Prices start from $15,480 (approximately £10,160) per person.

Both voyages will be aboard the 110-guest Sea Adventurer. The ships has been designed with stabilizers and an ice-hardened hull that allows her to easily navigate through polar waters, making her ideal for perfect for exploring rugged, natural environments. Travellers on each itinerary will be joined by an expedition team of naturalists, geologists, ornithologists, and marine biologists.
