There are many ways to visit Alaska, but none elevate the experience quite like Seabourn. Aboard its small ships, you can expect the line’s signature ultra-luxury, from intuitive, personalised service and all-suite accommodation to world-class dining and an intimate, yacht-like atmosphere.

But beyond that, Seabourn's small ships are the ideal size to take you to off-the-beaten-path destinations, such as inlets and narrow passageways inaccessible to larger ships. These voyages of exploration are led by elite teams of experts, ensuring 'expedition-curious' travellers see the Last Frontier in a way few others do.

Read on for three reasons Seabourn's Alaska cruises stand apart:

Ventures by Seabourn was created exclusively for Alaska itineraries, designed to provide guests with an interactive, experiential way of engaging with this vast and wild destination.

On these sailings, Seabourn’s onboard staff are joined by a veteran expedition team of naturalists, scientists and photographers. Their role is to provide guests with in-depth, insider knowledge about the region.

For instance, on board they offer complimentary lectures, seminars and presentations on Alaska's wondrous wildlife, cultural history and geography. During scenic cruising, team members circulate on deck and in the observation lounges, highlighting the sights with top-of-the-line Swarovski® binoculars.

Guests seeking closer encounters can join optional Ventures by Seabourn excursions, including ones that launch directly from the ship. One day, that might mean kayaking through tranquil fjords, the next watching for wildlife along forested shores or paddling amongst towering glaciers.

Alternatively, those who prefer to ride rather than paddle can take scenic tours in Zodiacs. These boats are excellent for eye-level cruising in fjords and along rivers. For example, you may explore the remote reaches of Misty Fjords National Monument by Zodiac, seeing what naturalist John Muir described as one of the most beautiful places ever seen.

2. The Seabourn all-inclusive difference

As well as being the ideal size to take guests where larger vessels cannot follow, Seabourn’s small ships provide an all-inclusive experience that is the perfect counterbalance to the rugged beauty of Alaska.

What sets Seabourn apart is the way it approaches all-inclusive, with generous perks designed to exceed guests’ expectations.

Even in the most remote destinations, you can expect world-class dining and culinary experiences that rival the finest restaurants around the world. Over the course of your voyage, you’ll enjoy regionally inspired menus sourced locally, including plenty of ocean-to-table seafood at its absolute freshest – think sustainably sourced Alaskan salmon and crab.

Among these culinary moments is Seabourn’s signature Caviar on the Ice. Set against an arresting glacial backdrop, it stands out as a truly remarkable culinary highlight of the voyage.

The all-inclusive experience also means Seabourn’s ships lend themselves well to relaxed sociability, from champagne on deck to craft cocktails in The Club, including zero-proof options for those who prefer.

You’ll also find touches tailored to your specific itinerary. As well as Seabourn Conversations led by experts in their fields, performances by local musicians and artists showcase the rich culture and traditions of this majestic region.

Meanwhile, the complimentary Seabourn all-weather jacket is an excellent way to stay warm, whether out on an optional Ventures by Seabourn excursion or enjoying views of the Great Land from your suite’s private veranda.

3. Tailored itineraries

Starting 14 May 2026, all-veranda suite Seabourn Encore will sail to Alaska and British Columbia during summer with a series of seven and 14-day voyages.

The ship will offer a number of seven-day voyages between Vancouver and Juneau, or you can combine these for a convenient 14-night round-trip Vancouver adventure with no repeat ports.

These itineraries are custom-designed to showcase iconic Alaskan destinations such as the UNESCO-listed Glacier Bay National Park, alongside boutique ports exclusively accessible to small ships, including Alert Bay in British Columbia and the stunning Inian Islands.

One stand-out port of call is Ketchikan, famous for its colourful totem poles, steep–as–San Francisco streets and lush island setting.

Along the way, there will be countless opportunities to spot wildlife, from sea otters and humpback whales to bald eagles and black bears. All itineraries will offer optional Ventures by Seabourn excursions, featuring kayaking, Zodiac cruising and hiking outings.
