Lovely holiday overall with a few negatives. Mainly around the drinks package for my husband who doesn't drink alcohol. He only had about 3 drinks which were fizzy despite repeatedly returning them and even the intervention of the head of the restaurant. Surely this should be simple! Across the bars it was inconsistent as to what you could drink on the basic package. It felt like going through hoops to get our drinks each day without having to pay more money. The advertised outdoor cinema with popcorn and a blanket never materialised. The trips were expensive and the all day Rome one didn't include the advertised Colosseum stop, and our 2 teenage grandsons weren't impressed by the hour long stop in a religious shop with nothing else nearby as an alternative! Despite these issues, the ship was lovely and we ate well. Lots to do and good shows. Cruises are still brilliant fun for families.
My daughter and myself couldn't have picked a better cruise, the staff were great always there to help if you needed it, the cabins couldn't fault it, we had a balcony this time, cabins were spotless and beds turned down each evening, couldn't fault the food and so many restaurants to choose from also a buffet dining area, entertainment was first clas. The whole ship was spotless.
We did on our thing on shore and was pleasantly surprised by our experience.
All good except food not so good
We were on a Baltics cruise,we went to some amazing places,Warmunde in Germany was lovely a lovely wee place by the river that we sat in and had tea,and a nice glass of wine, there was a little market there. In Copenhagan, got to see the Little Mermaid, who my granddaughter actually was in Disneyworld USA,when she worked for the mouse,we went to Helsinki ,latvia,Estonia,The most amazing places!but the icing on the cake was was when we went to St Petersberg in Russia, and stayed overnight,it was an amazing visit,we actually booked a private tour, and the minibus held 10 of us from 3 different cruise ships,we went to the Fabershea museum,oh why didn't my husband but me an egg from there, the place was fabulous, such beautiful things there, but the prices would make your eyes water. The Church of the spilled blood was so beautiful, the ceilings were startling, the frescoes and painting made it a beautiful visit, our guide took us to a really quaint restaurant, where everything was set up for us, and all included in the price,we had a lovely time there, they brought us vodka teas coffees juices, and 5 courses of meals,my first time tasting Russian food, some I liked others a definite no no,we went for a sail on the river and saw beautiful buildings, and the guide told us in winter it freezes over, and they can walk right across it to the other side, but the most amazing place was Peterhof Palace and the gardens surrounding it ,there are no words I could say to describe it the most beautiful, amazing place I have ever seen,we were lucky to see these sights, now it will be off limits to visitors, sadly, but I'm glad I got to see it all
Cruise from Jamaica around the Carribbean on board Marella Discovery 2 visiting Colombia, Panama and Costa Rica.
first time for me and my wife we really enjoyed it the food was great and the waiters were amazing they couldnt do enough for us very impressed the entertainment was very good as well and it was a very smooth vogage the crew was all friendly and polite the cabin was a bit dated for me but was exceptable for the price we paid
We have just had an amazing three day cruise on Marella Discovery 2 on the Electric Sunsets 90's v 00's cruise. It was like a festival at sea. Non stop music and partying, fab tribute bands plus Venga Boys and Atomic Kitten, DJ Sash and Vernon Kay. Everything was perfect. We got home yesterday exhausted but very happy. Lots of amazing fancy dress costumes and people living their best lives!
Enjoyed the cruise good value for money entertainment was very good staff in islands restaurants not helpful only putting small portions on plate to many stews and casseroles did not think food was up to usual standard quite often it was cold and pretty tasteless apart from food every thing else was excellent . We found a young man called neil who was part of the activities team was very proffesional thoughtful and helpful he was a credit to the ship. All other staff were very good
From Palma to Barbados .The crew are the friendliest ever and food was lovely. Some islands you had to take a ships excursion and little train in St Lucia was dire ! Only bad thing on the cruise !For the money we paid it was excellent !
Enjoyable cruise but clearly specified down to a cost. Food was plentiful like most cruises but bland and uninteresting.
