A cruise from Gaia (opposite side of river to Porto) upstream through 5 large locks to a location suitable to bus us to Salamanca then return to Gaia.

This was my 2nd Viking river cruise and it was thoroughly enjoyable.From start to finish everything was excellent. Service ,meals ,excursions,staff friendliness,housekeeping from Pasa was second to none.The cruise was Rivers of Gold my only concern and (this is not a complaint )is that most of the moorings overnight were not places that you could explore as most places were more inland .I wasn’t aware that ships are not allowed to travel overnight on the Douro like they can on The Rhine and Danube.I had a wonderful time on this cruise and I would recommend it to others
