Choosing where to sleep is one of the most important decisions when booking a cruise – and with Princess Cruises, you’re sure to find the perfect haven for your next sailing. Across a fleet of 17 ships, the accommodation options stretch from affordable Interior Staterooms, which leave you more to spend on excursions and dining, to vast multi-room Suites with exclusive perks and features.

One key advantage is that all stateroom types offer multiple sub-categories, allowing you to select accommodation based on your preferences – whether that means a particular view, expanded living space, or additional included features.

Here is everything you need to know.

What's always included

Whether you book an Interior Stateroom or a top-of-the-range Suite, some things don't change when you book a Princess Cruises sailing. The following is included with every accommodation option:

The Princess Luxury Bed: Developed exclusively for Princess Cruises, these beds have a high-density foam base topped with individually wrapped coils and two additional layers of foam enclosed in a three-ply circular-knit fabric.

Beekman 1802 toiletries: Every stateroom is stocked with eco-friendly, cruelty-free Beekman 1802 products – shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion – in a fresh-air scent.

MedallionClass technology: The Medallion – a small wearable device – detects when you approach your stateroom and unlocks the door. It also powers OceanNow and room service delivery, meaning food, drinks and other items can be ordered through the app and brought directly to your stateroom and select areas on the ship (an extra charge applies; free with the Princess Plus and Princess Premier packages).

A dedicated stateroom attendant: The person who ensures your cabin is clean and welcoming throughout the voyage.

Other standard in-room features: A flat-panel television, climate control, a safe, a hair dryer and generous storage space.

Stateroom options

Princess Cruises offers staterooms across five main categories – Interior, Oceanview, Balcony, Mini-Suites and Suites – each with sub-categories to better suit your needs and preferences.

Interior Staterooms

Interior Staterooms provide the most affordable way to sail, measuring approximately 136 to 162 square feet. Designed for comfort and efficiency, they are a practical choice for travellers planning to spend most of their time on shore or enjoying the ship’s amenities, preserving budget for excursions, speciality dining, and onboard activities. Accommodating up to four guests, they are also the most cost-effective option for families.

Sun Princess and Star Princess also offer dedicated Single Interior Staterooms – a welcome addition for solo travellers who want to avoid single supplements.

Oceanview Staterooms

If you want natural light and sea views without the premium of a private Balcony, Oceanview Staterooms – around 145 to 212 square feet – are the right call. Available across 14 ships, their design is similar to the Interior Staterooms but offers a window on the outside world.

In addition, on ten ships – Coral Princess, Diamond Princess, Discovery Princess, Enchanted Princess, Grand Princess, Island Princess, Sapphire Princess, Sky Princess, Star Princess and Sun Princess – you can book Premium Oceanview Staterooms. This premium tier adds bay window-style seating or floor-to-ceiling windows that make considerably more of the view.

Balcony Staterooms

A private Balcony transforms the cruising experience. Whether it's breakfast with open water ahead, an afternoon in the sea air or a drink as the ship eases into port at dusk, the outdoor space earns its keep. Balcony Staterooms run from around 179 to 279 square feet, including the Balcony. Breakfast or dinner can be arranged outside for an additional charge.

Other Balcony Stateroom options include:

  • Cove Balcony Staterooms

Exclusive to Sun Princess and Star Princess, cove balconies sit lower on the ship and closer to the waterline, giving a more direct, immersive sense of being at sea.

  • Deluxe Balcony Staterooms

A step up in size from the standard Balcony Staterooms, the Deluxe Balcony Staterooms feature floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors and a sofa bed, a useful addition for families interested in more living space. These are available on Discovery Princess, Enchanted Princess, Majestic Princess, Regal Princess, Royal Princess, Sky Princess, Sun Princess and Star Princess.

  • Premium Deluxe Balcony Staterooms

The same specification as a Deluxe Balcony Stateroom, but with a priority location on the ship. Like the Deluxe Balcony Staterooms, these are available on Discovery Princess, Enchanted Princess, Majestic Princess, Regal Princess, Royal Princess, Sky Princess, Sun Princess and Star Princess.

  • Sanctuary Balcony Staterooms

Exclusive to Sun Princess and Star Princess, Sanctuary Balcony Staterooms come with access to the adults-only Sanctuary Club on the top deck, the exclusive Sanctuary Restaurant, and include the Princess Premier package, which covers unlimited beverages, unlimited speciality and casual dining, gratuities, OceanNow and room service delivery, and Wi-Fi.

Mini-Suites

Mini-Suites have many hallmarks of a full Suite experience at a more accessible price. At around 304 to 389 square feet, including the Balcony, they come with a separate seating area, a sofa bed and two flat-screen TVs, and are available across the entire fleet.

Other Mini-Suites options include:

  • Cabana Mini-Suites

On Sun Princess and Star Princess, Cabana Mini-Suites extend the standard layout with a private cabana area – a sheltered semi-outdoor space with its own television, ideal for relaxing on cold or hot days.

  • Cabana Deck Mini-Suites

Also exclusive to Sun Princess and Star Princess, this category offers access to an exclusive shared Cabana Deck complete with a pool and a hot tub, in addition to everything in the standard Cabana Mini-Suites.

  • Reserve Collection Mini-Suites

Available on all ships except Sun Princess and Star Princess, Reserve Collection Mini-Suites sit in a premium location and come with access to an exclusive section of the main dining room for Reserve guests, a bottle of wine in your room on arrival, evening canapés delivered daily, priority reservations for speciality dining and upgraded bathrobes.

  • Sanctuary Collection Mini-Suites

Only available on Sun Princess and Star Princess, Sanctuary Mini-Suites – like their Sanctuary Stateroom counterparts – come with access to the Sanctuary Club (a top-deck, adults-only area with a pool, bar and events), the exclusive Sanctuary Restaurant and the Princess Premier package included throughout.

Suites

Suites are the most spacious and feature-rich accommodations across the fleet. They’re perfect if you seek ample private space to relax, and are great options for groups and families.

Sub-categories include Window Suites, Vista Suites, Premium Suites, Penthouse Suites, Owner's Suites and Grand Suites, with footprints beyond 1,500 square feet for some. The Sky Suite – available on Sky Princess, Enchanted Princess, Discovery Princess, Sun Princess and Star Princess – sits among the most generous in the fleet, with two bedrooms, expansive wrap-around balconies and up to 1,800 square feet of space to enjoy.

Across the fleet, the Suites are divided into two overarching categories:

Reserve Collection Suites, available on all ships except Sun Princess and Star Princess, carry the full Reserve package: exclusive Reserve dining, a welcome bottle of wine, priority speciality dining reservations, evening canapés and upgraded bathrobes.

Sanctuary Collection Suites were introduced on the newest Sphere Class ships, Sun Princess and Star Princess. As with the Sanctuary Staterooms mentioned earlier, these include access to the exclusive Sanctuary Restaurant and Sanctuary Club, as well as the Princess Premier package.

Accessible staterooms

Accessibility has been built into the design of Princess Cruises ships. Two categories of accessible staterooms are available across the fleet, catering to different levels of need.

Fully accessible staterooms are designed for wheelchair and scooter use, with wider doorways. Bathrooms feature a roll-in or transfer shower, a foldable bench seat, a handheld showerhead, grab bars and a distress alarm, while the layout includes an easy-access closet and a writing desk with wheelchair access.

The MedallionClass technology unlocks the door automatically as you approach, removing a small but frustrating friction point.

Ambulatory accessible staterooms are suited to guests who rely on a cane, walker or similar assistive device for stability and who benefit from features like grab bars, without requiring full wheelchair access. It is worth noting that these staterooms have a step at the bathroom and balcony entrance, and standard-width door openings.

Additional equipment – including shower stools and raised toilet seats – can be requested through the Princess app before or during your voyage. An accessibility Lane at embarkation streamlines check-in.

How to choose the right accommodation

The right stateroom is the one that suits the kind of cruiser you are. If you want to stretch the holiday budget into experiences ashore, an Interior Stateroom delivers comfort without compromise. For those who value sea views and open air, a Balcony Stateroom hits the spot.

Mini-Suites offer additional space that makes a difference for families and on longer voyages at a more affordable price than full Suites. While the Suites add exclusive benefits and even more space.

Whatever your budget and preferences, however, Princess Cruises’ excellent range of accommodation options guarantees you’ll find something that suits your needs.
