Introducing Sun Princess
Sun Princess represents an evolution of the Princess Cruises playbook, moving beyond the design language of its previous Royal Class ships. Built in Italy by Fincantieri, the ship introduces a more contemporary profile, defined by its curved glass structures and open, multi-level spaces.
Towards the front of the ship is The Dome, a geodesic glass structure inspired by the terraces of Santorini. This space functions as both a pool area by day and an acrobatic performance venue at night. It reflects the wider design intent of the ship, which leans heavily into flexible, multi-use environments.
Sun Princess carries approximately 4,300 guests at double occupancy, with a crew of around 1,600. It is also the first Princess ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), marking a shift towards lower-emission operations.
The ship introduces a new internal layout, with three main zones – The Piazza, The Dome and The Arena – each designed to anchor a different part of the onboard experience.

What are the facilities on Sun Princess like?
Facilities on Sun Princess are built around its three central zones, each offering a different atmosphere and function.
The Dome is one of the ship’s defining features. By day, it operates as a relaxed pool and lounge area with panoramic sea views. By night, it transforms into a performance venue for aerial shows, combining water, light and acrobatics in a theatre-in-the-round setting.
The Piazza is the social hub of the ship. Spanning multiple levels, it includes cafés, bars, dining venues and seating areas, designed to feel more like an open plaza than a traditional atrium. New to Sun Princess, the Sphere and its large glass panels spanning nine decks brings natual lights, reinforcing the ship’s focus on openness.

The Arena is the main theatre space, reimagined with configurable staging and advanced projection technology. It allows for more immersive productions compared to traditional proscenium theatres.
Additional facilities include:
- Multiple pools and hot tubs are located across different decks
- A reconfigured Sanctuary adults-only retreat with private cabanas
- Lotus Spa with thermal suite, treatment rooms and wellness areas
- A full fitness centre with ocean views
- Outdoor jogging track and sports courts
- Casino, boutiques and retail spaces
- Dedicated areas for enrichment programmes and lectures
The overall feel is more contemporary than earlier Princess ships, with fewer enclosed spaces and more visual connection to the sea.
