Exceptional experience lasting 110 days crusing the Southern hemisphere. Cannot fault Fred Olsen. As a solo traveller special events were put on for us. Port talks were informative. Specialist speakers and entertainment was on a rolling programme. Various classes for dancing, craft, deck games, events were provided fir the whole trip. Optional port excursions well thought out. A truly wonderful experience. Well done FredOksen
We had heard so many good things about Fred Olsen we decided to do a short cruise to give them a try.
On 22nd May we boarded Bolette and were very pleasantly surprised at how spacious the community areas were.
We had a window cabin which we found quite spacious with lot’s of proper wardrobe space. There was a small refrigerator and tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom had a spacious walk in shower compared to many other ships we had been on. Believe it or not there was still a nightly turn down service which has now gone from many ships due to cost cutting.
The theatre was I think the best I had seen on any ship and they had some very good entertainment on board.
The dining room was great with an upper and lower level with very attentive staff. The menu had certain things on that were on there daily but also with quite a comprehensive menu which changed every day (unlike a lot of the bigger ships I have been on)to suit all tastes. My only disappointment was the fact that they had two sittings for dinner but I would have liked to see an open sitting scheme.
I am not a buffet person but I think this is the best buffet I have seen on any of the ships I have been on. We did not try it fully just on the first and last day.
Overall I was very impressed.
SMASHING
Smaller ship excellent service from knowledgeable polite staff
Always love my time on Fred Olsen, the crew are amazing, we were very well looked after, from the cabin stewards to the bar staff/waiters, and the senior crew were always around the ship, food was excellent, entertainment great, a big shout out to Paul Goodenough who went above and beyond to ensure guests were well looked after
We visited Iceland and Greenland and enjoyed both so much we'd like to return.
Fantastic cruise, on a very friendly and comfortable ship. Great food and excellent service.
we had the best time. wonderful ship, wonderful crew
What an amazing experience as first time cruisers sailing to beautiful destinations throughout the Fjords of Norway. Nothing was too much trouble for the fantastic staff on board the Bolette - and what a beautiful boat she was too, so well looked after and so inviting from the first moment we got onboard.
The food, the entertainment, the tours - we could not fault any of it.
So a big thank you and I could not recommend Fred Olsen highly enough.
I can't wait to sail with you again in the near future.
Just returned from my first week of cruising visiting Ireland. It far exceeded my expectations, the boat was small but had all the facilities you needed. Everything was so well organised from earlier than expected embarkation and disembarkation at exactly the time stated. The food was excellent with lots of choices, whether from the buffet, served restaurants or speciality restaurants. The entertainment was excellent, from Cuban pianist, comedian or the brilliant shows from the Bolette company their final musicals show, ending with a Les Miserables medley was amazing. The best thing however about the holiday was the friendliness of the crew and guests. We were looked after like family, and seeing the care that the crew gave to the vulnerable guests was lovely to see. Many of the guests were returnees who had a real affection for Fred Olsen cruises and the Bolette ship. I will definitely be back and would definitely recommend it to solo travellers
A trip on the Fred. Olsen ship Bolette to The Azores, Madeira, Spain (Cadiz) and Portugal (Lisbon and Oporto).
Anyone embarking on an Atlantic cruise in October should be aware that there are likely to be more showers than sunshine weather-wise. However, the friendly welcome and the smooth arrangements for embarkation, lifeboat drill and dining were second-to-none.
The choice of excursions and the local guides engaged was also well-planned and interesting, as was the range of talks and activities arranged by onboard experts.
We failed to see any whales, porpoises or dolphins - maybe the message that we had arrived on deck clutching binoculars prompted a chain of undersea cetacean communication, "Ok, they're back again - dive, dive!"
The evening shows were generally very good, although some singing voices were more tuneful than others!
All-in-all a very pleasing cruise experience and value for money.
We booked this cruise very last minute. The cruise ship was the Bolette It was very dark with lots of dark wood and colours making it uninviting. The evening shows were terrible and very amateuristic. The shore excursions were very expensive compared to other cruise lines. We would not travel on the Bolette again but would consider the Balmoral which is fresh and light.
Wonderful. Couldn’t fault anything.
Really attentive Captain and crew. Food was really good
Especially liked the poolside cafeteria
Went to Iceland and Faroe island
Perfect break
Really enjoyed the cruise - only down side was the one excurision I was really looking forward to was cancelled .
Travelled with Fred Olsen before and both ships - Balmoral and Bolette - were very comfortable, crew/staff first class and friendly.
