This was our third cruise on Ambience, so it is safe to say that we like the ship and the on-board experience. We had chosen an inside cabin, not just for economy, but because I need complete darkness to be able to sleep and it suited that need. The ship is rather elderly, like most of the passengers, but has been well renovated so that the public rooms are very inviting.
The food in both the restaurant and the buffet is good. The waiters in the Buckingham restaurant are excellent - friendly and efficient. The shows from the on-board troop are first class - some of the best I have seen at sea, but the guest entertainers were a little past their sell by dates.
Congratulation to the cruise director, George, for all his work making sure everything went as planned. He was a real live-wire. Unfortunately, I am on tablets that don't allow me to drink alcohol, but there was so much jollity on board, I didn't miss it- well, not to much.
There is a disco on the highest deck which was used mainly for sequence dancing during the day, but came alive later a night for disco and there did turn out to be a number of younger passengers on board to join in this.
The ports of call and the weather were very good, but it was a bit too windy for much sunbathing.
All-in-all a very good cruise
Went on the Danube Cruise had a great time so interesting. All the staff were so friendly and helpful especially with my husband and his mobility scooter. The food was delicious. Couldn’t ask for better

Due to the French lock keepers strike, we couldn’t complete the cruise. We were bussed to our excursions and spent the last 2 nights in an hotel. Although this was not the fault of the cruise line, our holiday was totally spoilt
Very well looked after by the crew - nothing was too much trouble in particular from our cabin stewardess.
Food excellent - the mixed grill was amazing! Downside the waiters cannot make a good cup of tea!
The ship was very comfortable - no sound of engine, air-con etc and a very smooth ride - you would not have known you were on a ship unless you looked through the windows.
Our ports of call and sailing through the various lochs and past Fingals Cave showed how diverse and beautiful the British Isles are - a revelation.
It is a shame that at Southampton Terminal there is such a long walk from checking-in to actually boarding the ship - many passengers were struggling. Money has obviously been spent but something like a travellator, such as at Heathrow would have been better.
We went from Miami to Honduras,Belize and Mexico. The service was good when I was with my lady friend but dropped a lot if I sat along! Often couples were served before me even though they had arrived after me. It took 3 complaints and 5 days to get good service when alone!
We went from Miami to Honduras,Belize and Mexico. The ship was not too big. If I was with my blonde lady friend, drinks service was wonderful BUT whenever I sat alone,it was slow. I complained three times about this but it still took until the last day before I got service as quickly as a couple! SOmetimes,a solo lady was served before me. If ladies want equality they should wait like I usually did!
