Fantastic from start to finish: such welcoming crew, delicious high-quality meals, fun evening music and cocktails with a good kick!
I’ve been on 2 virgin cruises it luxury food was amazing & crew & entertainment brilliant
A truly awful experience, from beginning to end (and beyond, as trying to get Virgin to respond to our complaints took over three months and then they only ever responded to our booking agent).
A lovely-looking ship, but the crew were either under-trained or just didn't care about customer service and enjoyment.
We were celebrating our disabled daughter's 30th birthday and asked that Virgin do something nice for her. They did nothing! Not a cake, drink, notice, nothing.
I cut my leg quite badly on the edge of the (moveable) bed frame, which had a very sharp edge.
My wife was first ignored and then treated shabbily by our server/chef in the Korean restaurant. Our complaint to the restaurant manager and ship customer services got us absolutely nowhere!
One afternoon, when we were onboard and wanted some drinks, we were told that the rear outside bar was closed so we should walk down one flight to [try and] find one that was open! We've never heard or seen anything like it before - or since!
All in all, this was easily our worst cruise experience and we hadn't planned to ever cruise with Virgin again, except that they refused to refund monies to us but instead gave us a future cruise credit.
Only didn't give this full marks because of staff members calling the guests gringos thinking they wouldn't understand, slightly dull shore excursion in Costa maya, and slightly less options for veggies, with some food staff not knowing about some non veggie ingredients like rennet. Otherwise this is an amazing ship and trip and highly highly recommend.
Loved our cruise and going on another.
Different vibe and way of cruising to all other cruises. Relaxing and fun
Basic cabins.Very clean ship.Didn’t like having to book different food venues and shows every night…Free Wi Fi was good.No in cabin tea/coffee facilities.Everything had to be booked by app which kept ‘going down’.
Basic IKEA cabins. No launderette facilities. No tea/coffee in cabins.Unless ordinary tea or coffee then all other have to be paid for.Chaotic queues checking in cases and the queueing again for wrist app.Chaos at ports boarding shuttle buses..no staff organising queues.App kept failing.Have to book restaurants and shows. No proper swimming pools just two ‘plunge ‘pools.Very loud ‘banging’ music at pool constantly. Two ceiling lights in cabin..one over bed and the other over the open wardrobe at the other end of the cabin.A mirror on the wall in the centre with a lightBEHIND it giving out little light. If you wanted to wash your hair and blow dry it after 6pm when the daylight started fading it was impossible to see what you were doing. plus point was that wi if was free.
Virgin Voyages are superb and I would thoroughly recommend them. Amazing food in a huge variety of locations, innovative cabins, out of this world service and best of all, fantastic fitness classes and gyms, including a spin studio! I can’t wait for my next voyage.
Mis sold by imagine cruises 2 ports advertised that were never booked in the first place . 80s extravaganza was only 3 hours out of a 11 night cruise . Health and safety not great a lot of people got Covid which in my opinion would not have been helped by the staff being allowed To visit Liverpool prior to our cruise mer Maiden where we were all Covid tested . Food was very Average and lunch was not really very good . Ran out of wine soft drinks fresh Juice never had any mock tails Available ran out of starters ran out of specials even after evening meal only been open a hour . No entertainment 80s themed . Disembarkation was the worse organised I have ever seen gangway too steep no help no one organising it pushed onto buses . Covid corridors ! . Offered 100 per person as compensation to over 700 people not acceptable . Also 500 offa cruise if you spend more than 2000 can get cheaper online .
Won’t ever book with imagine again
Response from Virgin Voyages: We are sorry that you had a disappointing cruise. As we've discussed with everyone who sailed on this voyage this cruise was a charter organised by Imagine Cruising and the cruise was not the quality we would expect to deliver as standard with Virgin Voyages.
Diabolical cruise. Advertised as 80's Extravaganza but 3 x 1 hour shows does not count as an Extravaganza.
Food in food court cold or tepid and served in wrong order ie fried egg, followed by toast 5 minutes later and then cereal 15 minutes later.
No H&S - almost half the ship either diagnosed with Covid on board or when they got home. Disembarkation was a joke with passengers snaking round the ship. Passengers had large suitcases and hand luggage and if there had been an emergency we dread to think what would have happened.
Lifeboat drill was a joke as the crew had no idea what they were doing
Everything had to be done on the app but the wifi kept going down.
There was no entertainment apart from the 3 x 1 hour shows
etc etc

Not sure what demographic Virgin are aiming at, as they claim to be turning cruising on its head. Booked 80’s Extravaganza Rock & Retro cruise through Imagine Cruising. (Totally mis-sold/misrepresented in their marketing and advertising.) Cruise advertised to appeal to 50+ (baby-boomers) but virtually everything on board ordered/booked using an app, (very millennial focused) from food, restaurant bookings, entertainment etc. but WiFi constantly breaking down and unable to cope. (Ship only at 75% occupancy, would never cope if fully booked!) Activities/entertainment on board very poor and limited (board games (??)) or fitness focussed. Muster an absolute farce, if there had been an emergency evacuation it would’ve been a disaster. Some passengers didn’t even attend. No daily activity newsletter- you needed to check the app. activities/events cancelled without notification. I don’t think the crew knew how to work the tannoy system as the only announcements made were to notify us of a medical evacuation and a man overboard scenario. No updates on arrival at ports or other info shared. Embarkation/disembarkation like being herded in a cattle drive. No timed disembarkation as the app stopped working, so crew told everyone to just go to deck 6 and get in a queue to get off. Aware of over 200 people who either had Covid/tested positive day after disembarkation. People all wheeling off their own luggage down a dangerously steep gangway (Portsmouth). Treacherous and terrifying for disabled/wheelchair users. No buffet, instead 20+ Eateries- but no changes to the menu for the whole 12 days; don’t even have different daily specials. Food often only Luke warm. Ran out of basics three days into the cruise. Inc lower priced wines, though not the expensive stuff! Crew though very nice and friendly, also very young and inexperienced and very out of their depth when dealing with issues. After cruise communication almost non-existent. Complaints not responded to/ignored. Monies taken from credit card post-cruise with no explanation (after 4weeks of constant emails and phone calls has now been refunded but still no explanation as to why/what for.) Mr Branson is definitely turning cruising on it’s head and putting it straight down the toilet. Not an experience I care to repeat. Will stick to Celebrity in future.

This was our first ever cruise and we were so excited new ship new voyage exciting times! We booked with Imagine Cruising and from the moment we booked till this day( complaints) it's an ongoing nightmare! This was advertised as an 80s extravaganza we had 3 hours of 80s entertainment throughout the 11 night cruise.Madera was cancelled before we boarded, which we received $50.00 pp in our wallet which we were unaware of until a fellow sailor told us there was no option it was there and if you paid for the rockstar experience for some reason you received $100.00 pp?????? They ran out of the beer my husband liked half way through the voyage.I has a spa experience which I paid for and then found out that this should have been free? Still waiting for monies to be refunded. We had on our Imagine Cruising Iternary and also booking confirmation 2 days in Lisbon VV only planned to go for 1 day! Which the time was cut short due to an unfortunate incident on the boat understandably so. There was absolutely nothing to do on the boat and we were on it a lot! The information on our booking also stated that any covid tests or otherwise would be done at the port and at the last minute I phoned IC for another issue and they told me over the phone we were required to apply and do a LFT ASAP and said I should have received an e mail which I had not ( received after the phone call!) I was so anxious.I was taken Ill and stayed in my cabin for 2 days only to find out in disembarking there was a covid outbreak on the ship! had I had known I would have reported it as I tested on disembarking and was positive. The health and safety on board was another issue we were told to watch the information on the tv and then report to a certain place to complete and to be signed off as it were, next thing we know it came up on the tv to say all sailors had completed there H and S!!!!! The disembarking was absolute chaos crowds of people huddled together at this point I was still unaware of covid on board, I actually didn't find out till I got home. The app was never working so we went everyday to get the problem sorted. Miscommunication between VV and IC conflicting answers one did not know what the other was doing. When we first boarded the ship we had to collect our tickets for the 80s acts(3 hours) which again was chaos, afterwards we went to see a VV crew member about another issue and mentioned the collection of the tickets and replied he didn't know nothing about them? Which we thought was very strange! To say this was our first cruise we were so disappointed and dissatisfied this was not what we booked we came off feeling myself Ill and very flat we could not wait to get off.We are still in a dispute with IC regarding all of the above and feel we have had 2 weeks of our holiday taken from us at a high cost for almost nothing in return. We arrived in Portsmouth late so had to stay overnight in a hotel as we had a long journey ahead of us if you are exhausted reading this it just goes on!
