Celebrity Cruises unveils first river ships

Celebrity Cruises caused a stir earlier this year when it announced its plan to set sail on Europe’s rivers. A few short months later, the line released the first concrete details about its foray into river cruising.

Laura Hodges Bethge, president of Celebrity Cruises, said: “Celebrity River Cruises ships will be the most innovative on the river, with a patent-pending industry-leading design that offers more space to vacation while bringing guests even closer to destinations.”

Open decks

The ships will feature the largest outdoor space of any river vessel, with uninterrupted 360-degree views. Guests can relax on the top deck, enjoy the cantilevered Magic Edge dining pods, cool off in an infinity plunge pool or dine at the bar and grille.

Staterooms

All staterooms will have king-sized beds, ample storage and natural light. The line’s Infinite Veranda concept, first introduced on its Edge Series ocean ships, allows guests to open their living space directly to the river views. River View staterooms provide a bright retreat, while Balcony staterooms offer private outdoor seating to enjoy coffee or unwind after a day ashore. Minibars will be complimentary for all guests.

Suites

Suites will feature residential-style interiors with separate living areas, enhanced balconies and destination-inspired amenities. The new Skylight Infinite Balcony Suites include a ceiling-height window for maximum natural light, while Vista Balcony Suites offer private outdoor space. Guests in suites also receive on-demand butler service, exclusive dining, complimentary laundry and priority booking for excursions.

Dining and bars

Guests will have a choice of eight venues, including Celebrity favourites Martini Bar, Sunset Bar and Café al Bacio. Menus are regionally inspired and evolve along each itinerary, with flexible dining hours and the only 24/7 meal options on the rivers.

Immersive itineraries

The programme features 33 seven-night sailings on the Rhine and Danube, with multiple ports per day, overnights in cities like Budapest and excursions ranging from wine tastings to cycling tours. Pre- and post-cruise stays in cities such as Prague and Budapest will be available to book from 2026.

Sustainable design

Equipped with hybrid propulsion, waste management systems and advanced noise reduction, the ships are designed for smooth sailing with minimal environmental impact. Celebrity River Cruises says that 2027 sailings will be available to book soon. Visit the line’s website for more information.
