Food bad in the Main Dining Room. Much better in the Self Service, but still ran out of things.
Very disappointing
Whole thing appeared they were 'doing it on the cheep'.
Many passengers who had sailed with them before said they would not be back.
A long cruise but worth it in terms of destination which included Antartica. Passenger age demographic was quite elderly which was a pity and did affect things like music choices and lack of sailaway parties. The staff were generally helpful and food was plentiful and good. Written communications was somewhat poor both before and during the trip but on board the captain and entertainment manager did their best to verbally keep us up to date. I wouldn't rush to return but I was put off more by the attitude of passengers than the cruise line itself. I feel Fred Olsen could/should have been stricter over abusive language and behaviour of some passengers towards staff and even other passengers and rules such as "no running" should have been properly enforced so that everyone could enjoy the cruise without a few idiots spoiling the trip for the rest of us.
Although a rather wet cruise we had a blast, meeting new friends and meeting staff from the past.
Rosyth to Honfleur, Rouen & Antwerp
Fred Olsen is in my eyes the best cruise line available with smaller ships that get to places the bigger ships can’t. Our cruise although the weather was not as good as could have been was fun packed with loads of entertainment on board and terrific evening shows and great company, service was second to none always with a smiling face and nothing too much trouble. We will be back soon.
I thought this cruise was for older guests as the daytime activities were not for me. Ballroom dancing lessons, bridge, ukulele lessons. Nothing there for me. The food was mostly very good even though the evening service was quite slow. I probably won’t cruise with this line again.
Lovely cruise from Southampton to Rouen and Honfleur. Very friendly welcoming ship with lots of good entertainment. Cabin was quite spacious and food good. Would thoroughly recommend.
Our first time with FredOlsen. We would certainly consider them again. They honoured our Golden Wedding despite the original trip being cancelled in 2020 and there were some lovely surprises. All crew were great. There were some hiccups, mostly around communication. Post cruise I emailed them praising the good aspects and gently mentioning the not so good. We had a follow up phone call where everything was taken seriously and they then sent us a gift in compensation as they said our first time with then should have been better! Seems they bent over backwards to woo us back, despite us already ensuring them we'd had a great time!
I absolutely loved everything about this cruise. There isn't a single negative thing I could say about it.
Excellent services thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.
We always cruise on small ships and Fred Olsen meet that. We had a wonderfull time and as always meet like minded people. If I have any gripe, the theater sitting is a strange arrangement, there are settees tand in front of these there are individual seats but saying that it doesn't seem to bother the passengers, but if you are short like me it does not help if you have someone who is taller or larger. We have always found the staff friendly and always happy to help.
This was a wonderful cruise visiting a fascinating mix of ports. Fred Olsen shines with the smiles and service you receive from staff. Dining throughout was excellent with a choice from a la carte or buffet for all meals - and the choices were very good for either. Afternoon tea was served from a pot - not all cruise lines do this and the overall feel of the ship was friendly with space to relax and enjoy quiet times or to join in activities. There is a good amount of outdoor space and seating and good swimming pools (and changing rooms). Cabin was comfortable with good drawer and wardrobe space. Embarkation was very fast and smooth.
Good cruise to Scandinavia. Almost midnight sun -- wonderful (much better than Northern Lights which are at best disappointing).
Scandinavia is great between April and September. Sail along fjords on long summer evenings in a very mild climate.
If you go in the winter it is freezing. Forget the Northern Lights. It's all marketing hype. The summers are incredible.
Go on a small ship if you want to visit Naeroyfjjord -- the narrowest and best! Balmoral can get half way (still very worthwhile), but if you can go in the Braemar which can sail right to the end. This makesbgorba splendid summer evening.
I travelled from Rosyth to ICELAND for 9 Days on the mv BALMORAL and it was a very interesting destination
