Better than perfect
This was the first time on Queen Elizabeth and we booked it as an investigation. We would definitely sail with her again because the cruise was very good. Efficient, effective to passengers. Comfortable cabin (upgraded balcony), very good cabin service, lovely restaurants, good service, very nice staff. Excellent entertainment and lectures - fantastic. The ship is beautiful, very characterful, lots of lovely art, extremely attractive and comfortable. General staff are OK, not as friendly as on Fred Olsen.
Cunard always oozes quality and great organisation. Staff and crew always knowledgable, reliable, efficient, polite and friendly. Food excellent. Good range of activities and despite recovery from covid social distance arrangements, socialising was quite feasible, in restaurants and elsewhere.
Staycation cruise travelling up to Scotland and back to Southampton but no port stops.
Good but not the same as cruising used to be. Although I understand that cruise companies have to be extremely careful regarding Covid if everyone is tested before boarding, which they are , the are being too strict. As social distancing and mask wearing is no longer mandatory these rules should be practised on board also. Also dancing in a disco was not allowed yet ballroom dancing and line dancing were allowed. This makes no sense at all.
The cruise was a 'follow the sun' cruise. We sailed to the Bay of Biscay and went up and down several times. Dinner each night was exemplary as was the entertainment. The lack of a buffet was the reason for not rating the cruise better - breakfast was table service and left a lot to be desired. The biggest let down was the lack of dancing as the 'house' band played a lot of jazz, blues, and motown.
