Fabulous cruise and despite being apprehensive about travelling on QM2 for the first time & long voyage, it exceeded our expectations.
Only negatives were no port information available apart from the ships tours, plus alcoholic beverages are too expensive.
SUPURB CREW whose care and professionalism at all times was second to none
An amazingly smooth Atlantic crossing with plenty of opportunitries for relaxation (lovely spa and pool) great entertainment and delicious food throughout.
Interesting destinations from New York up the west coast to Nova Scotia ( the home of Cunard's founder)
Spent 4th July in Boston.
Rocky trip to Rhode Island and back due to poor weather and fog, but the pilot did really well and received a cheer when we were all safely back on board.
The best holiday we have had - felt really relaxed and pampered during the 2 weeks.
transatlantic crossing done in style So lovely to dress up and be glamorous again after 2 years of confinement .Like the fact Queen Mary is still quite traditional with good service and plenty of space . On the down side do not like that they charge for wi-fi which is very patchy and the 15% they add to every drink
We had a wonderful time on the cruise and felt quite forgiving about some of the shortfalls due to the Covid situation creating such havoc to the cruise/travel industry. The ship definitely needed some tlc but obviously there was no funding for updates. On the whole the crew did an amazing job. It was a 5 night mini cruise to Hamburg and Cherbourg which was a really good itinerary. It was a bit of a shambles waiting to depart the ship in Hamburg as there was a delay at the port but the Captain had everyone queuing to get off which caused frustration and was unnecessary. I think the most disappointing element was that Cunard only gave world club members half a bottle of fizz. It was somewhat paltry and wouldn’t have broken the bank.
On day 1 arrival we tripped over trays left on the floor outside the cabins where people were self isolating. This was poor, throughout the cruise these trays were constantly left out for a very long time before being taken away.
Cruise started from Southampton on 13 Dec 2021. Embarkation was chaotic with a long queue of 2 hours for Covid testing with no social distancing. On the way to New York 10 people were found to be positive and were disembarked and placed in quarantine ashore. Again every one was tested on the ship again in a queue. As a result when we cruised to the caribbean we were not allowed to land at any island except Barbados this then meant we were 25 days at sea before returning to UK. The cruise cost us £9000 for myself and my partner but were only given compensation of just over £1000. We will never travel with Cunard ever again.
Exceptional
Transatlantic and North America & Canada. Most relaxing cruise we have been on. Simply the best way to travel to the US. Good way to visit East Coast places and Nova Scotia where Samuel Cunard founded the Cunard company.
Also celebrated Independence Day while in Boston.`
A fabulous cruise with amazing staff and lovely guests. The entertainment was excellent and everyone was respectful of the covid mask request to wear around the ship. I know the ship wasn't working on full capacity of guests but nothing seemed to be too much trouble for us. The food was perfect just to our taste with a great choice at every meal. Will definitely go with cunard again in the future.
Solo cruising on the QM2 Transatlantic Crossing. As always the QM2 didn't disappoint it's passengers with high quality food, entertainment, clean public rooms and staterooms plus excellent White Star Service.
I travelled on this cruise alone but found it very easy to make new friends. The 'singles' get together held daily introduced you to other single passengers and the 'dance' hosts were in attendance for those who wished to dance nightly in the Queen's Room. With so much to do there was no time to worry about being alone. I would thoroughly recommend the Transatlantic Cruise to single passengers.
Flying to New York was with Virgin Atlantic with Economy Delight seats which have an extra 12 inches legroom. The Cunard representative greeted passengers and took us directly by transfer to the ship. The 'sailaway' was amazing seeing the skyline of New York and passing the Statue of Liberty before heading under the famous Verrazzano bridge with a few metres to spare! Then off towards the Atlantic ...........
If you want to do the Transatlantic Crossing in style chose Cunard! I am glad I did this cruise, would I do it again certainly YES!
We have sailed on a number of occasions with Cunard QM2 and enjoyed them, however our recent experience we found absolutely poor.
Bad very dated entertainment, along with some inappropriate themes in the light of the Ukraine invasion by Russia.
Poor activities in the day, most of which had to be paid for in addition.
The whole ship is very tired.
Our balcony cabin (obstructed) was basic and the mattress was too small for the bed.
The cabin tv had poor quality sound and choice of channels.
Public Toilet Hygiene on the ship was very poor and I had to inform staff on more than one occasions of toilet blockages and bins overflowing.
General cleaning on decks along with glass doors leading onto decks was poor and neglected.
Covid testing was very poorly organised particularly for the more infirm passengers.
Drinks on board are extremely expensive compared to other cruise lines, and not worth the premium price.
Our 28 day cruise was boring and this was common conversation from other passengers who made a point of talking to us.
Nothing onboard the ship was remotely Caribbean, when we arrived in the Caribbean.
Cunard advertising literature before sailing ALL showed people not wearing masks and drinking etc in the theatres however, the full restrictions of masks remained in place against social distanced seating still needing to be observed in theatres meaning guests could not have refreshments.
Service charge in all shops - what is that all about .
So many people where just wondering about the ship miserable commenting on how boring the cruise was.
On a positive side, all staff were very helpful, obliging and efficient, so many young people managed to stay so cheerful !
Food in the dining room was most of the time good, although at times not as hot as dishes should have been.
Strict dress code of gentlemen having to wear jackets and a tie sadly has disappeared.
Themed nights on this 38 day cruise were few and repeated, so pointless taking evening clothes really.
Choice of dancing was poor, if you want to only dance ballroom then you will love it.
Daytime music - there is only so much ‘harp’ playing you can listen too, along with an automatic keyboard piano, so awful.
Queen Mary has not moved with the times it appears to be catering for an age gone by, a lot of older people have more life in them, they need to realise this, we appreciate the class of QM but there are limits.
As one passenger remarked to us before we reached New York, it’s like being in a middle class care home not on a cruise of a life time.
Very disappointing the whole experience
