Fantastic Journey Cruise (aka repositioning)

This cruise was a 22 day journey from Seattle to Sydney. Lots of sea days, but what an amazing way to travel between the two continents! Boarding the ship was a nightmare. We were travelling to remote locations so insurance was a must as was a visa waiver for Australia. The port building WiFi was horrendous so I couldn't prove I had insurance - it's part of my packaged bank account, and my banking app wasn't working. But I managed to show my daughters insurance and our visa waivers. The head of customer services allowed us to board and I took my phone to guest services later to show my insurance details. All was good because I had insurance. The cruise director, fun squad and Carnivals own entertainers were super. The enrichment programme was amazing too. How often can anyone say they learnt about Hawai'i from Princesses? The sauna was good but locker space was ridiculous far too few lockers and selfish guests were commandeering a locker for the whole 22day cruise because they could! The itinerary was good - some fabulous stops on our way to Sydney. The crew were fabulous and could not do enough. Even with the number of sea days, I can honestly say it was one of the best cruises I've taken. Sadly due to Carnival changing it's reward programme, I doubt I'll sail with them again esp as the itinerary is so USA-based. It's a shame, I'm not far off Diamond but too far off achieve it in the time-frame.

While it was nice to get back to cruising, the stress of getting a covid test and results was exhausting, with having to work. The food quality has gone down some, which could be due to supply. Service was top notch as always. Vendors in Nassau was a little pusher than usual. Most definitely can tell some cut backs have been made. I'm just ready to get on my next ship.

The ship was very old although stated to have been refurbished. We travelled from New Orleans Gulf of Mexico. Food relatively good but entertainment poor and shows started when dining so we missed more than half. Drinks package was too expensive at £400 plus for the week each. Drinks were watered and there were no sugar free or slimline mixers to cater for diabetics. Balcony was dirty and never washed. Staff were good especially the cabin staff. The ship look and felt tired and in need of modernisation. Boarding and embarkation were managed well.

Everything was wonderful except maybe the food which a few times was not quite up to Carnival's previous quality.
