This looked a great cruise Italy to Rio and also looked good value until you got on board. Inferior cabins, food , the same with no changes of choice, not so good if you don’t eat pasta, anything other than basic had to be paid for, pizza, burgers etc, no water provided at dining room table, that had to be paid for, never again
It’s our first time and we did really enjoyed it. So definitely we’re doing it again. The entertainment was really good as well as the food. My husband asked for boiled rice so they gave us boiled rice and from that time we got rice every lunch time.
Sailed on costa toscana, beautiful ship. Had a balcony cabin, it was one of the biggest balcony I ever had.
Food was good, only negative point I found you could not get tea/coffee all day long, like most of the cruise liners do. Costa tend to close the machines for tea/coffee soon after breakfast and only open them at 4.30 till 5.30. If you fancy a cup of coffee at 4pm you had to pay, same with water, machines were only open during breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I would not buy their Brindiamo drinks package, you dont get bottle water, or cocktails, waste of money.
Embarkation and disembarkation was smooth, staff were friendly, and shows were excellent. Most of the cruise liners have started putting very basic shows in the theatre eg, singer or comedien, Costa had good shows.
Very comfortable sofas all around the out door area to relax, and plenty of sitting area inside the ship.
Jacuzzis were tiny for the size of ship.
I enjoyed this cruise because the ship was new and looking forward to trying their other ships.
Last minute change of disembarkation from Venice to Trieste was rather chaotic and inconvenient. Transport was provided, but was badly managed - we ended up using 3 coaches, plus very inflexible - they insisted we were dropped off at Venice port which was no use to any of us. We asked for the train station, but we're just dumped at the port. No option was given to go direct to the airport which would have been very useful since the transfer added 3 hours and some people would miss their flights
