We’ve been with Regent 5 times before so know to expect the highest level of luxury and outstanding polite, friendly and efficient service. Their attention to detail is phenomenal and with under 500 guests and almost as many crew you can see why these cruises are vastly superior to lower cost ones. Many of the staff, and not just your suite stewards, greet you by name which is amazing when we sat at different tables and in different restaurants. On our way home we were even greeted by name and wished a safe journey at the airport by a waiter who can only of served us a few times. We like the fact you pay for the entire cruise including trips, food, wines etc beforehand so nasty surprises or big bills afterwards. The downsides? Very few but for the first time meeting and transfer arrangements from airport to hotel and then to the boat were chaotic and left many first timers to Regent unimpressed. We tried to tell people this was far from our previous experience but it gave a bad first impression. A mix up over luggage collection resulted in us carrying our own luggage onboard unaided up a long flight of steps. We needed that welcome glass of champagne! We also noticed (as is common with nearly every company on the planet) some cost cutting procedures eg a cheap biro in cabin replacing nicer pens of yore, fewer expensive dishes on the menu eg halibut, crabs legs but that is nit picking as you couldn’t fault the quality or variety of food with exciting new menus every day. Also we saw the waiters round the pool were hardworking but simply not enough of them and we often waited 20 minutes for a drink to come or a couple of times we were forgotten completely but we were relaxed and on holiday so not worried. The staff all seem genuinely friendly and want you to have a good time. There seemed to be almost as many British as Americans on this cruise and I’m guessing 98% over 50. This isn’t a cruise for young children and has none of the big screens, water slides, climbing walls you see on the larger brasher ships. There is a nice pool, 18 hole putting green and other board activities for the active. The theatre had well attended music shows and a magician. The atmosphere was always friendly but never raucous. At dinner you could choose to dine as two or “share” which was a lovely way of meeting new people. We are definitely looking forward to our next cruise, most likely with Regent!

We went for sunshine for my husband's 80th birthday - and we certainly got plenty. The ship's engines were rather noisy, but we were fortunate enough to have a cabin near the bow, so we weren't bothered by the noise. The food and service were excellent and everything (including drinks, shore tours, laundry and wifi) was included. Their entertainment troupe was excellent. We would have liked longer in port to explore more and their speaker wasn't a patch on those we've had on Fred Olsen ships. The staff were really kind, helpful and attentive. We were lucky enough to get a double cabin upgrade on special offer as we staggered out of lockdown. We love smaller ships. At our age, we don't need discos, water flumes and climbing walls!

Our first RSSC experience, albeit we have hundreds of days cruising on a load of other cruise lines. Absolutely blown away by everything about this cruise. And I’m not easily impressed - and quite easily upset when luxury products aren’t as I expected! The cabin staff are superb, never once had to tell them about something needing replacing, they diligently check everything and nothing is too much trouble. We’ve joked that we would like to kidnap them and take them home with us, but alas that’s not going to happen. Food is excellent wherever you eat, and even on this small, beautifully intimate ship there is plenty of choice, wonderful steaks, amazing shellfish and a huge variety of other choices. Even the young man on the egg station in the morning actually does the eggs exactly how you ask for them. A complete delight. Bar staff and the waiters around the ship are cheerful and helpful. Service is brisk and you are made to feel very spoiled. There is a regular flow of special drinks and nibbles to your loungers during the day time. We’ve just turned down lovely trays of fruit but accepted the non alcoholic fruit cocktail, absolute lush it was. We’ve enjoyed all the entertainment, Cruise Director Ray never stops trying to keep people happy, and his ship announcements are the most concise I’ve ever heard. Pianist Ray and the other musicians also work hard to produce music that are enjoyed by the guests, and will tackle any requests that come from the floor. Organisation is first class, restaurants open at the stated time, not 10-15 minutes later as so often happens. We also enjoyed all our tours as well, and of course it’s a huge financial bonus that these are included in the cruise cost, so no big cruise bill when you leave the ship. As you can probably tell, we’ve loved every moment and to be honest, this is the Tina Turner of cruises - “Simply the Best” Thank you Regent.
