It was lovely to be cruising on a very beautiful ship, it was sparkling clean, cabin was 1st class and bed very comfortable.
The only problem we had was at meal times, we waited until we thought the rush had past then went to the buffet. The queues were still long, by the time u got back to ur table the food u had got 1st was cold.Other than that we had an amazing time.
Fabulous ship and everything and I mean everything was wonderful
When we eventually got on board (it took over 4 hours because of bad organisational issues) the food was good, the ship was lovely, most of the crew were very good but some were very abrupt, the crew in the dinning room were very good and welcoming, I would recommend this ship, however I would recommend 2 other companies ship's first but it was a reasonable cruise
Delightful experience. Great ship, marvellous crew and stunning locations. You cant ask for more. Well good food and drink possibly? But that was there in abundance and quality
First time with MSC have booked again , says it all
Gorgeous ship but les than 50% occupancy which made all the difference! She is very new and very glamorous but I imagined all the potential for queues if she was fully occupied. Cabin lovely and clean and well equipped. All public areas very clean. Pity there isn't an indoor pool on such a large ship. And no library.
Embarking was a free for all not much organisation and forget covid rules.
As we walked on to the ship we were approached by people with laminate adverts selling shows, drink packages, tours, games, internet and photo packages and they were very persistant (think of time share reps)
We were directed up to the main food area for breakfast and what a shock, most of the food was dry and looked as if it had been out for hours our table wasn't clean and I ended up cleaning it myself.
Our cabin was on deck 10 with balcony first impression it was very dark but lovely and clean, everything new and the bed and pillows were comfy. Forget the mini bar the price for water was extortionate! The steward introduced himself and was pleasant enough. We went to explore, the ship is all shiny and new. Our first evening meal was an experience our table was next to the serving area, very noisy and we had a tall ice bucket, wine cooler at the side of our table which was for everyone. Each time the waiter took out a bottle my legs got wet, I made a joke about it but they wouldnt move it. The waiters spent nearly 45 minutes selling drinks and only then did they take our order for food. I had chicken breast which was very dry so only ate part of it, the waiter took my plate and several minutes later brought it back and asked in a loud voice why I hadnt eaten it, I was pretty embarassed. We only ate in the restaurant one more time when I was chastised again for not eating the octopus which was in the risotto rice. The restaurant was fairly empty we wonder why! Some staff on the ship were pleasant others very unpleasant.
On our first day at sea the steward brought us a ticket to fill in it was for transport from two of the docks to town and back. It was £20.00 each we hadn't decided what we were doing, we went to look at trips, they provide a list in your cabin but no prices. You have to go to the reservation desk and only then do they give the price! We ended up doing our own thing which was stress free we got on trams and buses with no hassle it a fraction of the cost.
To sum up this cruise line is all about selling. They have a lovely ice cream parlour where prices start around £7.00 and the chocolate shop prices are unreal both seemed to be empty most of the time. If you have a family the extra costs are unrealistic. We found service lacking in some areas it was around 30 minutes to get a drink. In the main food area several times we ordered hot drinks and had eaten our food by the time they came. When it was busy the food area was quite stuffy and hot, as you leave they randomly take your temperature my partner was told if it was two degrees more we would be confined to our cabin. Maybe wiser to take temperatures before people sit down in a hot room and step up on hand washing and hygiene. We have had lovely cruises in the past with none of this sell sell sell. It was worth the try but MSC is not for us. Despite being careful for over 2 years and having all 3 injections and a booster within a few days of our return home we have both been very ill with covid.
A beautiful ship.
Embarkation very quick and efficient.
All public places very clean.
Staff very friendly.
Balcony stateroom a bit dull, colour wise and could have been cleaner but maybe they are understaffed. Beds hard. No face cloths provided now.
Market place buffet, a bit all over the place, regarding food. All plates and glasses were plastic, not my idea of cruise ship luxury. A lot like a works canteen and the food always seemed cold.
Minuet restaurant looked good and the staff did all they could to make you feel welcome. Yet again, the food not very warm and the choices could have been better, hotter and tastier.
Premium extra drinks package was very good.
The pool area good, inside and outside.
Singers and dancers in the theatre were excellent, really enjoyed the shows.
I didn’t go on any shore excursions as they were very expensive.
I wish the covid safety issues had been more implemented. I went on this ship last year and MSC were quite strict but this year they weren’t asking people to wash/disinfect hands, some people did just not care enough to do it, hence I did come back with the addition of Covid. Did take temperature on way out of Market place but I’d been there three days before this happened.
Disembarkation was very good.
Definitely good value for the money I paid.
Beautiful ship.
Entertainment areas too small or not enough seating.
Entertainment theatre shows very good very much the same every night but could do with a bit more variety.
Definitely a British weekend. Embarkation was awful. Buffet at breakfast was bedlam. Not enough indoor seating for the weather, especially indoor pool. Bars filled up very fast so not enough seats.
But the ship is beautiful, the lifts work brilliantly, food is fine and for the price, it is extremely good value - would certainly take another MSC cruise.
We booked apprehensively as last minute unbelivably cheap deal. We are seasoned cruisers over 20 years but had not tried MSC purely down to poor reviews we had seen, but having had very poor experiences on both P&O and Princess recently we thought we'd give this a go, and we were not disappointed! This is a beautiful ship with a fabulous main promenade, its changing ceiling is quite something. The ship being half full was definitely a bonus, meaning no queues anywhere and (almost) no issue getting a seat in the bars. The MDR staff were entertaining & welcoming and the menu was varied and extensive. We have recently been on a so-called 'premium' ship where the food was so poor that we actually cancelled another upcoming holiday with them. However, the food on MSC was delicious & generous and including the buffet there was always food available. The only disappointment was the burgers - what has happened to ships burgers?
Our room was spacious enough, very modern, big balcony & how lovely to have a ketttle hurrah! We had room service breakfast m0st days or only £3.50 service charge. We paid for the easy drinks package & a few times we were tols we couldn't have a certain drink but they also found an alternative ie: ask for sparkling wine not prosecco!!
We paid to attend to the Cirque du Soleil type shows (15pp) which were well worth it, the performers were just amazing, I would highly recommend it. We don't do ship excursions, but the buses offered to take you to town in Bilbao & Le Havre were good value & there was no hanging about. My only criticism would be the Spa, thefacilities were cramped & I couldn't access the very small pools as there were no steps - swinging my legs over is not for me!! But I have to say we are now converts to MSC & look forward to sailng with her again.
Everything was good. Theatre Shows were excellent, but stoo short (35 minutes)
Dancing crew and service was really good
Excursions, bit too expensive
Drink package - Need for a lower price range package for Wine and Beer. As we do not take hard liquor We decided not to buy the Drink package
if anyone is travelling on an msc cruise please read the reviews as we will not be travelling with them again
Had fantastic time. Ship was spotlessly clean. Staff very helpfull. I would highly recommend MSC cruises
A brilliant cruise to the norwegian fjords. Could not fault it excellent ship and staff. Maybe more reasonable priced WiFi.
