Excellent ship and crew (except reception desk) always polite and cheerful.
The experience was relaxing as less than 50% of maximum passengers were actually on board. Not sure what conditions would be like if all cabins were booked? Pre cruise requirements for COVID seemed very extensive (ie tests, vacinations, insurance) but at embarkment/onboard less so.
While I enjoyed the break I would not go on this ship again. The Luxury Balcony Cabin was smaller than the usual size of other ships. There was no tea or coffee etc in the cabin for the fist morning.
We were on fully exclusive, but no-one told us that the bar in the cabin was included. Service for the drinks took so long that we ordered double quantity's. The buffet and meals in general were tasteless and poor quality and we had finished our meal before our drinks came. No provision for those with a mobility problem
Brilliant no problems at all. Great from start to finish.
Having a suite in the Yacht Club is really special. Given it was our first cruise since coming out of lockdown, we were slightly apprehensive as to how things were going to go, but we need not have worried. The cleanliness of the ship was first class. The only slight disappointment was that we did not know that shore excursions meant that we were unable to be independent. Furthermore, we were not allowed to get off the coach in Doha on that excursion, which was unlike our previous visit. Value for money 4 stars in just reflected in the price of the excursions. We love having a butler!
Everything is good base on my expectations. As I heard and read a few reviews . The ship itself is beautiful and the shows are spectacular. The only downside is the food, especially in the marketplace, less options and I don't enjoy it. Maybe I was with royal Caribbean 3 times I can't help but to compare.. Main dining room was good . Much much better than marketplace. All in all we enjoyed it for the price we pay. Who am
We have sailed with MSC several times and LOVE this company. The more you cruise the more benefits you gain and we had exceptional service both express boarding, beautiful cabins with balcony. The ship was beautiful throughout and staff always went above and beyond to help in any way. We had Aura, free upgrade for spa area and we used this several times and always very quiet and relaxing in sauna, steam and jacuzzi areas. Waiters were exceptional and we truly felt special. This ship is a newer member of the MSC fleet and WE LOVE the bigger ships. Only 1,300 people post pendemic which is a fabulous time to sail so seats everywhere on the ship. Theatre is outstanding, the Butchers cut ama!ing for a nice steak and fab wine menu. The White night and 80's night were amazing and the only downside for us was no games room/library for playing cards, howerever we soon found the Skylounge and had magnificent seats sailing through the fjiords enjoying the scenery with a cocktail and we could play cards in there as so large and spacious. The Sail Away parties from each port we memorable with special music playing and very moving..you will hit the jackpot
Had the best time did a three day taster cruise to Holland and France from Southampton, ship was amazing very glam, very clean, had lots to do we particular liked water slides, high ropes and the large amount of hot tubs situated at round ship, food was greaT lots of choice and always tasty, shoes were good kids enjoyed them too being only 30 minutes doesn’t allow for kids to get bored, rooms were nice very clean and alway made up with new town each day, drinks were great, overall loved it few little grips if I was being really picky but would 100% recommend msc we have booked another cruise with them for August, they get hard time sometimes on reviews but really worth given them a go great experience great value for money. Thankyou Msc
The crew were amazing - the norwegian fjords were amazing. The excursions were a disaster. We went on a coach to then go on a boat trip around the smaller fjords. When we got there the boat had left without us! After half an hour of waiting we were told this then had to wait at least another half hour for another coach to pick us up ! We were given our money back but think we should have been compensated as the excursion the day before was a disaster too. No tv channels in the room apart from news. This was a big deal for me.
Embarkation was a breeze and the all inclusive package starts from the minute you get on board. Amazing value for money as no solo supplement. The ship is huge and beautiful and but I wonder what it would be like cruising at full occupancy - this cruise was only 30% full so no crowds. Service was really good as was the food in the included eateries. The drinks list for AI customers is the best I've seen with loads of cocktails and even champagne. English TV was a bonus. There is no library however.
Just returned from a great cruise to the Norwegian fjords. Paid for negative lateral flow test required within 48 hours prior to boarding and the usual requirement for COVID travel cover and proof of vaccination on boarding. Given an early boarding time of 10 - 11am and no delay on boarding. We travelled as a group with two other couples and each had the Premium Drink Package included and were in balcony cabins on deck 9, a good choice. The shows in the theatre had to be booked, either via the MSC app (which worked very well) or via on board screens, and were excellent. Two shows a night and very professional cast, great singers and dancers with a huge repertoire from popular music and dancing, classic opera songs and even a ballet production! Also had a group of Irish-dancers on one show.
The food was excellent in the main dining room and the servers were great. A good choice of wines and the drink package included some good quality lagers and spirits. We enjoyed a lovely steak meal in the Butchers Cut restaurant, free by virtue of our MSC Voyagers Club membership, but would have been happy to eat all meals in the main restaurant or even the buffet where the food was of a high standard. Would happily sail again on the Virtuosa, which was in excellent condition. Just to say that there was no compulsory mask wearing for guests, but the staff all wore masks, so it was a return almost to pre-COVID cruising but with only about 2000 guests, so a very pleasant experience.
Embarkation day was a shambles. We arrive at the dock at 11am and queued for 45mins at bag drop. we then queued for a further 31/2hrs to get as far as security. there was further 45mins queueing to check in. We queued again to climb the many corridors of the ramp to board ship. There were no facilities to get any food or something to drink and nowhere to sit until after security. Eventually once on board, we managed to get to the cafeteria for a drink. Again long queues for the food service of 40mins.
We opted for a cabin with a window {we normally have a balcony cabin} we were pleasantly surprised at the space and facility. Our dining was second sitting at 8.30pm and we arrived on time to find more queues, we were shown to our table at 9.10pm. Our starter came quite quickly however the main course took a lot longer but only 3 in our party of 4 were served. The restaurant manager ask how our food was and was stunned that we were still waiting for the other meal. He spoke to the waiter who hurried out to the kitchen, 10mins later the food arrived at 10.10pm. The waiter proceeded to clear the table without waiting for that plate to be eaten. The next morning I made a complaint at the customer service desk and was assured that the matter would be reviewed and move us to an earlier sitting. that evening everything was rectified to our satisfaction.
On the morning we arrived in Guernsey we booked tickets for the tender to take us ashore but when our time was called and we went to the landing stage the queues again were the length of the corridor. After 45mins with no tender arriving and the queue not moving at all several people from the front of the queue gave up and opted not to go, after a further 15mins we also decided that we had spent long enough queuing and went to spend the day beside the pool instead.
On disembarkation we even had queues to get off of the ship and were sent back to customer service to sort out a bill they said we owed. I was told it had been rectified and we didn't owe anything. I was refused disembarkation again. I went back to customer service and this time they agreed nothing was owed and it was their error. At last I was allowed to get off.
I FEEL THAT THE WHOLE WEEKEND WAS A WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME. WE SPENT MOST OF THE WEEKEND QUEUING AND DIDN'T EVEN GET TO VISIT GUERNSEY.
Embarked and Disembarked really quickly. Lovely ship with a big promenade.
Stunning scenery at the Fjords. Sailed into Haugesund on a Sunday and everything was closed which was disappointing.
The staff were excellent always happy and charming and simply can’t do enough for you.
Had to pay for two shows which were fantastic
An absolute nightmare. Despite being assured that there would only be 2000 passengers onboard because of Covid, when we left Greenock with this number, on arrival at Southampton there were 6000 onboard. I was so scared as there was absolutely no social distancing onboard
in restaurants and the inevitable happened- I caught covid - was so horribly unwell.
My husband was recovering from a near fatal stroke and I'd been so careful throughout the pandemic to keep him safe. At least he was ok - the worst cruise we've ever had
Greedy, greedy lying MSC cruise company in flagrant breach of maritime law of safety of life at sea. Am still feeling the post covid effects.
I sailed second time on MSC Virtuosa in 6 months. Food quality have improved a lot, very good value for money. I didnt get drinks package, which they are offering to new bookings, mine was booked over a year ago, so I missed out on that.
We had to have antigen test before checking in, as well as on board the ship, before going to the ship, which doesnt make sense.
Over all very good experience, would definitely go back with them.
