QUEEN VICTORIA ARRIVES …

The latest Classic Cunarder, Queen Victoria has now arrived in her home port of Southampton.

Queen Victoria, departed the Fincantieri shipyard in Venice on 30 November 2007. Thousands of shipyard workers who were involved in her construction waved her bon voyage from the quayside in an emotional send off.

Southampton is set for an exciting weekend of events. Over the next four days in Southampton over 7,000 guests from around the globe will visit the ship before she gracefully departs on her Maiden Voyage on Tuesday 11 December 2007 to Europes Northern waters.

Christmas Festival
To celebrate her arrival, Southampton is hosting a complimentary Queen Victoria Christmas Festival in Mayflower Park 7-11 December. The Victorian-themed festivities include a market, carol singers, costumed characters, traditional fairground rides and tasty treats like mulled wine, roasted chestnuts and toffee apples. Visitors to the festival will be able to admire the views of Queen Victoria from the park.

Naming Ceremony
On Monday 10 December, HRH the Duchess of Cornwall will name Queen Victoria in the presence of HRH Prince Charles at a spectacular ceremony. This prestigious event will be attended by over 2,000 VIPs and dignitaries from around the World. Details of the exact format of the ceremony are not being released beforehand, but Cunard’s new Queen will be christened using a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Champagne. Don’t miss your chance to watch this magnificent ceremony live on a big screen in Mayflower Park from 3.30pm!

Bon Voyage!
Finally, we wave goodbye to Queen Victoria on Tuesday 11 December at 5pm. As she sets sail on her Maiden Voyage from City Cruise Terminal there will be a spectacular fireworks display to celebrate her maiden departure. Queen Victoria’s departure and fireworks will be best viewed from Mayflower Park.
