Hebridean International Cruises will be berthing their Hebridean Princess at the Northern Lighthouse Board’s Oban Base pier for part of her 2008 summer schedule of visits to Oban.

The new berth, located away from the busy main passenger terminal, will allow Hebridean guests to benefit from the excellent facilities already provided for NLB’s own vessels as well as offering an exclusive embarkation experience.

Hebridean chief executive officer Munir Samji said: “We are delighted to have been offered the opportunity to berth at the NLB’s base as it provides a high standard of service and facilities which both our crew and guests will enjoy. Most importantly, the location fits perfectly with our commitment to provide guests with a truly private and prestigious experience at every stage of their journey. ”

The NLB were able to offer this change of berth following the introduction of the Merchant Shipping and Maritime Security Act of 1997 which, under the spare capacity guidelines, allows them to use the pier for commercial use when not occupied by the Board’s own vessels.
