Royal Caribbean Cruise Line and the Steve Redgrave Fund will be ‘rowing’ in the same direction when it comes to improving people’s lives as the two organisations have teamed up for a two-year fund-raising relationship.

Executives from Royal Caribbean joined the Olympic legend in a rare appearance back on the water – a rowboat on the Olympic 2012 venue at Dorney Lake – to mark this announcement.

But a much larger vessel – the new 160,000-ton Independence of the Seas – will be used to support the partnership, with many of the ship’s launch activities in April including fund-raising activities for the Steve Redgrave Fund.

Sir Steve Redgrave explained: “We’ve been working with Royal Caribbean to create a really exciting programme of fund-raising which can make a real difference to the work of both charities over the two years. We are delighted the company has chosen to support us, and the events marking the launch of Independence of the Seas will be an incredible start to the relationship.”
