Windstar Cruises, which operates a three-ship fleet of luxury yachts that explore hidden harbours and secluded coves of the world’s most treasured destinations, offers guests even more opportunities for adventure with new sailings on the Adriatic aboard Wind Star and Wind Surf.

Travelers in 2008 can cruise between Venice, Italy and Dubrovnik, Croatia experiencing the diversity of the famed Dalmatian coast from its medieval towns to the ultra-elite European yachting set. The vibrant cultural scenes, ancient landscapes and sun-drenched beaches create a distinctive experience for Windstar guests.

The 7-day cruises from Venice to Dubrovnik include ports in Koper, Slovenia; and Pula, Rijeka, Zadar, Split, and Korcula, Croatia. The 7-day cruises from Dubrovnik to Venice include ports in Kotor, Montenegro; Trieste, Italy; and Ploce, Hvar, Sibenik, and Rab, Croatia.

For many travelers, Adriatic ports represent the pinnacle of exclusive destinations. Windstar Cruises’ returning guests are quickly seizing the opportunity to book these sailings. These “can’t miss” destinations include Dubrovnik, a medieval city on the Croatian side of the Adriatic and a treasure trove of historical monuments created throughout its thousand-year existence. The city is filled with museums and galleries, and has become a center of modern cultural events.

Hvar, the cradle of Croatian tourism, is visited by some of the most discriminating and famous visitors from around the world. The citizens of Split will tell you that their city is “the most beautiful one in the world and beyond.” The forever young city epitomizes the warm Mediterranean temper and heart. Located along one of Montenegro’s most beautiful bays is Kotor, a city of traders and famous sailors, with many stories to tell. The Old City of Kotor is a well preserved urbanization typical of the Middle Ages, built between the 12th and 14th century. Medieval architecture and numerous monuments of cultural heritage have made Kotor a UNESCO listed “World Natural and Historical Heritage Site.”

Windstar recently completed the multi-million dollar Degrees of Difference initiative to enhance the line’s fleet in public areas, staterooms and technical operations. Wind Surf accommodates 312 guests and Wind Star accommodates 148 guests, offering luxurious suites and staterooms which include lush bedding, L’Occitane bath amenities, Egyptian cotton towels, flatscreen TVs, DVD/CD players, Bose SoundDock speakers and Apple iPod Nanos pre-loaded with music for check out. Culinary wonders abound in the ship’s restaurants with Windstar chefs continuing to delight with innovative dishes. Windstar also offers relaxing spa treatments and exciting shore excursions which can be booked by guests.

Windstar’s commitment to providing guests with the most casually elegant, enriching and luxurious cruise vacation has consistently earned high praise from some of the most notable names in the travel world. Porthole Cruise Magazine named the Wind Surf “Best Tall Ship” and Windstar the “Most Romantic Cruise Line” in its Reader’s Choice Awards. The line also earned top honors in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards in 2007. All three ships in Windstar’s fleet of luxury sailing yachts were lauded among “The World’s Best Small Ships” by Conde Nast Traveler readers and the company was recognized recently as the best small-ship cruise vacation by the readers of Celebrated Living.
