Carnival is a cruise line that specialises in fun-filled, family-friendly cruises. The US-based cruise line, part of parent company Carnival Corporation (which also owns Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Seabourn, P&O Cruises UK and Australia, Cunard, Costa Cruises and AIDA) was founded in 1972 and currently has a fleet of 23 ships that sail North America and Europe, with more due to be added over the next few years. Roughly half of Carnival’s ships have a capacity of between 2,500 and 3,900 guests. February 2021 sees the launch of $1 billion Mardi Gras (originally scheduled for 2020, the launch was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic), which will become Carnival’s largest ship, carrying an impressive 5,200 passengers and featuring the first roller coaster at sea. This will be followed by sister Excel-class ship Carnival Celebration, which will include similar features to Mardi Gras and will start sailing from Port Miami in November 2022. The 3,000-passenger Carnival Radiance (previously named Carnival Victory) is also due to undergo a $200 million refit next spring. Carnival Cruise Line sails almost exclusively from North American homeports, with a few exceptions.

Carnival Dream, ship details
